Epiphany

These readings are for Epiphany, January 6, which usually falls on a weekday. Many church traditions that do not have weekday services observe Epiphany the Sunday before January 6 or the first Sunday in January, while others observe it on the Sunday following. These readings can replace the regular lectionary readings on either Sunday to observe Epiphany.

However, in 2008 Epiphany falls on the Second Sunday of Christmas. Churches that observe Epiphany should use these readings for this Sunday. Churches that do not observe Epiphany may use the Readings for the Second Sunday of Christmas.
